It’ not easy to entertain a five-month-old baby. I think music is the thing that every baby likes and they don’t necessarily have to listen to children’s songs. In this post, I collected those seven pop songs that entertain my daughter the most. 1. Szabó Balázs Bandája ft. Julie Rens: Hétköznapi

One evening, my husband was playing with Janka and when storytelling, nursery rhymes and playing airplane was boring, my signifcant other decided to listen to music with the baby. This song was among the ones they listened to and it really kept the baby entertained. We don’t know if it’s the melody or the rhythm, but it’s been one of the favourites since then.

2. Laura Pausini & Alejandro Sanz: Viveme

We found this song on my playlist and it immediately makes our little girl smile.

3. Michael Bublé: Save the last dance for me

I listened to this song a lot when I was pregnant. After a few times, I realised that the baby liked it because she was kicking like crazy when it was playing. Even now, she kicks and waves when we listen to it.

4. Andrea Bocelli: Nessun Dorma

The English title of this one is “No-one shall sleep”. I used to listen to it a lot when Janka was about 4-6 weeks old, often woke up at night and didn’t want to go back to sleep after the 4.30 a.m. I love this song, but at time the main reason for listening to it was that I wanted make irony out of the whole sleep-deprivation situation to survive the tough moments somehow. Anyway, the Little Lady liks this so much that when the women’s choir starts to sing, she starts to coo and shout, then she’s all smiles.

5. Somló Tamás: Indulni kell

Ezt a dalt is a férjem találta. Ha Janka nyűgös, ez tuti gyógyír. This one was also found by my husband. When Janka is fussy, it’s definitely a cure.

6. MC Hammer: U Can’t Touch This

I wanted to keep this song for the penultimate place. Janka was about one month old when I bought her a pair of joggers at H&M. They were those baby jogger that are loose on the bottom of the baby and my husband said that our child looked like MC Hammer. Daddy and baby usually listen to this song when they’re together, just the two of them when my husband gets Janka ready for bathtime. Though rap drives me up the wall, I often have to listen to it because Janka likes it. She grins and giggles when she listens to it. I guess it’s the rhytm that she likes.

7. Celine Dion  & Garou: Sous le vent

Celine Dion and Garou’s duet is the ultimate cure for crying! I don’t know what feature of the song it is that calms her down that much but no matter how she cries, she stops it after the first few rhythms and smiles until the end of the song. It serves best when we go somewhere by car – just the two of us -, she starts crying on the backseat and I can’t go there to comfort her.

Which the above-mentioned songs do you like most? What kind of music do your children like?
