“The Nightmare Before Christmas” tea light holder

In this post, I’ll tell you how to make this tea light holder. It’s super easy to make, so it’s an ideal project for beginners.

I love “The Nightmare Before Christmas”. I watch it every year around Halloween and Christmas. I have figurines and a Monopoly that is based on the story. A few years ago, my husband got me four Jack Skellington mugs, each of them with a different facial expression.

I bought this glass two years ago if I remember well. I wanted to paint an eerie purple sky and witches on it, but I didn’t really have time for it. Last year, I pulled out the glass again, but I didn’t know what project I should use it for, so I put it back on the shelf. It had been happily camping there until a few days ago…

What I used:

  • glass / tea light holder
  • Jack Skellington stencil (I found a picture on Pinterest, this is what I drew on a small piece of paper in pencil)
  • black acrylic paint
  • small brush
  • big brush

I placed the stencil in the glass and secured it with a piece of masking tape.

With a tiny brush – which was, in fact, a nail art brush -, I painted Jack, the mountain and the circular line behind them.

I painted the rest of the glass black with a bigger brush.

I waited until it was completely dry and put a LED tea light in the glass. I don’t think paint and open flame mix well, so I used an LED version just to be on the safe side.
