I’m already preparing to decorate our tree, so I got the box where I keep the ornaments to check their conditions. In the meantime, I thought that maybe I should write a post about my favourite ornaments are.The first one is this dog pawprint one. Our dog Kifli’s pawprint is in it.
I Kifli and I made it from air dry clay the year we moved into our house. As Kifli is an important member of our family, the ornament with the print of his smelly paw must be on our tree, no matter what.
The second one is this pink deer. I bought it at OBI three years ago and you could see it in my door wreath post. If I remember well, three came in a box. I love it because it’s very girly and it sparkles beautifully on the Christmas tree.
The third one is actually a small collection. I put crochet lace onto air dry clay, rolled it out and cut the shapes with cookies cutters. They were made in the same year as the Kifli paw print ornament.
I bought this cat-shaped ornament for Janka at OBI this year. I wanted to start a new tradition, so I came up with the idea of buying her an ornament every year. As she’s crazy for cats, it was obvious what kind of ornament she would get.
The last one is the one closest to my heart. This is a LEGO nutcracker. I put it together on 24th November last year. At 11:30 p.m. on the 23rd, my contractions started and although by 7:15 a.m. I was pretty sure I was in labour, I wasn’t willing to go to the ER, what’s more, I didn’t call my doctor either. My husband went to work, I converted our sofa-bed back – I had pulled it out early in the morning so that I could watch TV lying there, I wanted to keep myself occupied because the contractions didn’t let me sleep, but I didn’t want to disturb my husband. After that, I checked my hospital bag, packed snacks for my husband, read a women’s magazine and assembled this ornament. I called my doctor at 11:30 a.m. and told him that I was experiencing abdominal cramps that are 20 minutes apart, then called my husband and asked if he could give me a lift to the ER. The reason I love this ornament is that it reminds me of the day Janka was born.
Do you have a favourite Christmas ornament?
