I’ve been using La Roche-Posay’s Effaclar Duo (+) tinted moisturizer for 4 or 5 months. If you’re curious how it worked for me, keep on reading.I’ve been struggling with hormonal acne since I gave birth to my daughter. If I’m lucky, only one or two small pimples show up, but hormonal changes, stress or certain foods can make the situation worse. When bigger, more painful blemishes attack, it affects my mood.
I’ve consulted with my dermatologist, according to whom I should take same pills which she can’t prescribe at the moment because my daughter is still breastfed. As an external treatment though, she recommended La Roche-Posay’s Effaclar Duo (+) tinted moisturizer – especially the tinted one because she knows that I often wear makeup due to my rosacea, so having something tinted on my face improves my mood and confidence as well even when I’m just at home.
This moisturizer is for combination or oily skin and promises to unclog pores and reduce the visibility of red and brown spots. Even after 8 days. It comes in two shades: light and medium.
My skin is combination (more on the dry side) and my skin issues are caused by hormonal imbalance, so I was curious to see if it would work for me. It made the bigger blemishes disappear in 2 or 3 days. As it is a tinted moisturizer, it doesn’t have that much of a coverage, but it was enough to conceal the acne scars completely and my rosacea partially. So wearing this moisturizer, I dared to answer the door when somebody came to our place and I still felt human. After about a week, I noticed that the number of blackheads around my nose started to decrease and my pores had also become smaller.
About two months ago I realised that my skin heals more easily if I apply some treatment on it for the night. At night, my whole body is in relax mode, and the stuff I use to cure my acne doesn’t have to compete with sunlight, air pollution, etc., so I purchased the non-tinted version of La Roche-Posay’s Effaclar Duo (+), too. I use it in the morning and in the evening and the situation is significantly better than it was when I was using the tinted one. The bigger blemishes disappear in a day or two and healing time is also more tolerable because in my case, it eases the pain caused by acne. By the morning, it makes my rosacea fade significantly and my skin doesn’t feel inflamed where I have the redness caused by rosacea.
ts only drawback is it moisturizing effect isn’t long lasting on my combination skin, so I don’t know how it will last in the windy autumn/winter weather and the heating season, but we’ll see.
All in all, I’m very satisfied with this moisturizer. I’m already using the third tub of it and I assume that I’ll keep on using it.
I would be interested to know how effective it is when applied to oily skin. If you’ve already tried it, write it in the comment section below.
